We recently had our first field day for the White River Radio and Communication Group, and to say it was a success would be an understatement—it was fantastic! According to the sign-in sheet for White River Radio and Communication’s ARRL Field Day, 43 people participated—33 visitors and 10 operators. The turnout was incredible, and we couldn’t be happier with the response.

Debbie (callsign: KI5QQG) and her dedicated team did an outstanding job of advertising our field day and spreading the word to the public. Their efforts ensured that the event received the attention it deserved. We were honored to have local elected officials and emergency personnel in attendance, eager to learn about ham radio and experience our “Get on the Air” (GOTA) station.

Noel, Tank, and I, along with a few other volunteers, manned the GOTA station, and it was a delight to see both young and old getting on the air and enjoying the experience. The engagement and enthusiasm from the participants were truly inspiring.

Operating under the callsign K5UZ (David Norris), we had three stations set up for the contest portion. One station operated in SSB, another in FT8, and the third in CW. We had around 10 antennas strategically placed to cover all the bands and frequencies, ensuring optimal communication capabilities.
Throughout the 24-plus hours of the event, we made sure that everyone was well-fed and hydrated. There was an abundance of food, drinks, and snacks available, ensuring that no one went hungry or thirsty.
We have captured some wonderful moments from the field day, and you can find these captivating photos on our Facebook page at facebook.com/whiteriverradocom. Make sure to check them out and relive the excitement.
Lastly, I want to express my immense gratitude to Wayne (callsign: KB9ELS) and Genice (callsign: KI5GRX) for hosting the field day at their fantastic location. Their generosity and support were instrumental in making the event such a tremendous success.

As we look back on this memorable field day, we are excitedly looking forward to next year and all the future events that the White River Radio and Communication Group will organize. The incredible turnout and positive energy from this event have motivated us to continue fostering a sense of community, promoting amateur radio, and strengthening emergency communications. Stay tuned for more updates, pictures, and announcements as we embark on this thrilling journey together!
